Percy Hilder Miles (1878-1922) was a child prodigy violinist, born in Erith, north Kent. He was a Professor of Harmony and Counterpoint at the Royal Academy of Music in London, one of his students being the renowned Rebecca Clarke. The music is beautifully crafted, full of harmonic and melodic invention and although somewhat conservative is absolutely beautiful to play and to listen to. This is the first in a series featuring his music. The recording was made in the beautiful acoustic of Henry Wood Hall, London with producer Mike Purton and recording engineer Tony Faulkner.
